Westlake Village LivingWestlake Village is one of the highly desirable cities located in the Conejo Valley. Set along the border of both Los Angeles and Ventura counties, Westlake Village is not as well-known, yet is one of the more affluent and secluded communities in the L.A. area. Westlake Village homes can range from $400,000 to well over $10 million. The community called Westlake actually includes areas that are within the City of Thousand Oaks, which is the Ventura County side of the community. Legally, Westlake Village is the Los Angeles County side of the community. Even the little Island of Westlake is split in half, with half in each county. The Conejo Valley homes have traditionally done very well, maintaining higher than average values, in relation to other parts of the Southern California and Los Angeles real estate market.
Residents of the various areas that make up Westlake, whether incorporated in the City of Thousand Oaks or the City of Westlake Village, still generally refer to themselves as residents of Westlake Village. The community is about a 60 minute commute to jobs in Downtown Los Angeles on the 101 Freeway. It is even closer to the various hubs of the entertainment business, such as Studio City (40 minutes), Universal City 45 minutes), and Hollywood (50 minutes). The westside studios of Fox, Sony, Culver, and others are about 60-75 minutes away, depending on traffic.
